Relationships are one of the most rewarding aspects of our lived experience.

They have the capacity to bring with them a deep sense of fulfillment, security, and connection.

It takes effort to build, maintain, and recover these healthy qualities in your relationship when you get off track.

Some of common challenges we see in relationships include lack of trust, difficulties communicating, prior relationship/family trauma negatively impacting engagement and attachment; as well as shifts in sexuality or identity which necessitate change within the relationship.

Our counsellors help you identify the dysfunctional patterns you got trapped in that are creating disconnection in the relationship. We work with you to get re-connected, understand one another, feel heard, and communicate more effectively; so, you can both experience greater fulfillment in your relationship.

Puneet Sohi

Couples Counsellor

I believe feeling heard, understood, and connected to our partner is an important part of feeling secure within a relationship. At the same time, even couples who care deeply for one another can find themselves caught in patterns that leave both partners feeling disconnected. The same conversations may come up again and again, small disagreements can become larger conflicts, or resentment can build when needs have gone unspoken or misunderstood for a long time.

I support couples experiencing communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, resentment, trust concerns, and changes in intimacy or connection. Sometimes one partner feels like they are constantly trying to be heard while the other feels like nothing they say or do is quite right. Other couples may not be experiencing frequent conflict at all, but notice that they have become distant or no longer feel like the team they once were.

In our work together, I create space for both partners to feel heard and understood while helping you slow down and recognize what is happening underneath the conflict. Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, we explore the patterns that have developed between you, the emotions and needs that may be harder to communicate, and how each partner responds when feeling hurt, misunderstood, or disconnected. From there, we can work toward communicating more openly, navigating conflict differently, and rebuilding emotional safety and connection.

I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Relational Life Therapy (RLT). These approaches allow me to explore attachment and emotional needs, identify recurring relationship and communication patterns, strengthen friendship and connection, and support couples in developing healthier ways of understanding and responding to one another. I tailor our work to the unique needs of each couple, with the goal of helping partners feel more connected, understood, and able to work together within their relationship.

Amal Rashid (RCC)

Couples Counsellor

Loving and supportive relationships can be our greatest anchors as we navigate all of life’s joys, challenges and changes. Building and nurturing intimacy in relationships takes work, especially when we are working to re-build closeness or trust that might have changed or gotten off-track. I support couples in engaging in this work. I am here to help you identify any patterns that might have you feeling stuck or disconnected, and work on skills that build communication, reconnection and trust. I support couples in exploring the ways that they are showing up in their relationships, working on skills that can support them in better hearing and understanding each other, and building safety and trust within the relationship and their own selves.

We are not always taught how to build intimacy in relationships. Sometimes our past wounds and traumas can continue to be painful to our present selves, causing disconnection and misunderstanding in our relationships. We are also surrounded by messages about what sex and relationships “should” look like, and can be made to feel shame when our experiences differ from these scripts. Regardless of the challenges that you are experiencing in your relationship, I’m here to help couples find their path through it and work towards building connectedness, friendship and authenticity in their relationship.

I draw from a combination of Relational Life Therapy and Gottman Method Couple’s therapy to help couples identify the patterns that are causing distance and disconnection, and then build the skills to help them reconnect. Through a direct yet gentle approach, I support partners in connecting to their feelings, needs and desires so that they can show up more authentically in their relationships and work towards having their needs met.

Couples Counsellor

As a human and therapist, I’ve witnessed the true power of having safe and loving relationships in our lives. Our relationships bring us joy, love, laughter, security, fulfillment, and help support us through the many crossroads we encounter. Navigating life’s challenges can take up our time and energy, leaving us feeling disconnected from our relationships. I work collaboratively with couples to foster re-connection, build new ways of relating with eachother, and re-establishing safety and trust in the relationship. Together we can move towards having you feeling like you are on the same team again!

Whether you are dealing with communication issues, trust concerns, intimacy challenges, relationship burnout, family conflict, cross-cultural issues, or just feeling disconnected from your relationship altogether; I provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space for both partners to express themselves openly. Through evidence-based techniques and a collaborative approach, I aim to facilitate understanding, strengthen emotional bonds, and foster healthier patterns. My goal is to empower you both to rediscover the connection that brought you together, build resilience, and re-connect you to a more fulfilling relationship.

I work from an integrated approach, drawing from both Relational Life Therapy for couples and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Couples Counsellor

I believe relationships are one of the most rewarding aspects of our lives. They have the capacity to bring with them a deep sense of fulfillment, security, and connection. It takes effort to maintain and recover these healthy qualities in a relationship when we get off track. I bring couples back to the root of what brought them together by helping them negative patterns they've been trapped in that threw the dynamic of the relationship into disarray.

Clients will come to discover the root of common, debilitating, and perpetuating patterns that prevent them from connecting, understanding one another, feeling heard, and communicating in effective ways. Some of these challenges include trust, communication, prior relationship/family trauma, and attachment; as well as shifts in sexuality or identity which necessitate change within the relationship. Through increasing awareness and understanding of how these arise, we work through alleviating these stuck patterns and learn to engage in ways that lead couple's back to intimacy and connection.

I primarily approach Couples' Counselling with Relational Life Therapy techniques which I use to create permanent, positive change in relationships. Through my practical, empathetic, and direct therapeutic approaches and interventions I help couples recover, reconnect, and work in partnership towards having their needs met in the relationship.

I provide couples' counselling for those in non-monogamous, monogamous, polyamorous, and kink.

Zoie Phillips - Intern Counsellor

Couples Counsellor

I believe that healthy relationships are built on honesty, emotional safety, open communication, and vulnerability. My goal is to provide a space where both partners feel heard, respected, and supported in expressing their experiences, needs, and concerns. I believe creating emotional safety is particularly important in order to build and maintain trust within a relationship.

Couples may avoid difficult conversations to protect themselves or their partner; however, avoiding these conversations can create distance and resentment over time. I aim to help couples move beyond simply identifying what they are arguing about and provide a space where they can explore what may be contributing to the conflict underneath the surface.

Ultimately, I view couples counselling as a collaborative process in which both partners can better understand themselves, their partner, and the patterns that develop within their relationship. I draw from a combination of Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to explore each partner’s individual needs, strengthen emotional understanding, and foster greater connection within the relationship. My goal is to help couples develop a relationship where both individuals feel safe, respected, heard, and valued.
